Dockweiler State Beach is the only RV Park on the beach in Los Angeles County. It’s not very large, and has only 2 washers and 2 dryers. The RV Park is right next to the day use area, which we made good use of on several days that we had somewhere else to spend the night. Rates are $55-75 per night (due to a reservation fee of $10 that you have to pay unless you are registering on site that day). Day rate was $3 day ($5 on weekends), but we paid double for our large RV because it takes up two spaces. The park is open until midnight if you arrive before 10pm and the fire pits are very popular, but because we went in December, it wasn’t worth braving the cold to stand around a fire, so we just opened our front windows, facing the ocean and watched all the fiery pits on the beach. Nice ambiance from the comfort of our mobile home. Since we were detained in Los Angeles for business, we decided to splurge and pay the fee to spend Christmas in the RV Park. It was very nice and we met some very nice people who were also enjoying the non-traditional holiday. I even made some friends. One lady gave us buckeye fudge and I invited another lady to dinner when she asked if she could buy a dinner from me. I told her, “No. But I would be happy to fix you a plate.” I made Mediterranean lamb roast with roasted vegetables and mixed greens, We talked while she ate and we prayed for her before we left the park the following day.
