Gun shots rang right outside the church we were attending today in Oakland, CA. Folks literally hit the floor in church. The Bishop handled it perfectly. He started reassuring the people and praising and glorifying God while the security team investigated. He exhibited no fear. Later we were told that one of the bullets hit the churches wrought iron fence and one person outside (that declined medical attention) was shot in the leg. Franklin Mayfield and I did not move although we were directly on the opposite wall from the gun shots. We immediately began praying in the spirit and glorifying God. We trusted God to protect us and he did.
These are perilous times, but those that fear God need not fear man. We have an arsenal of promises from the Word of God (Holy Bible). God’s Word will build you up, give you strength, fortify your soul and lift your spirit. His Word will give you grace, comfort, courage and boldness. His Word is Life. Taste and see that the Lord is Good;blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him. Psalm 34:8
These are just a few of the scriptures that we pray daily to strengthen our faith.
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Eph. 6:11-17
For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Matthew 10:28
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31
Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Romans 8:37
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7
The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalm 18:2
For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. Psalm 91:11-12
